ABOUT
The Inland Northwest’s Mushroom & Mycology Community

How the North Idaho Mushroom Club Began
NIMA, also known as the North Idaho Mushroom Club, is a community built around curiosity, education, and a deep respect for fungi. What began as small conversations and local foraging walks grew into a structured club focused on learning, conservation, and meaningful connection.
We bring together beginners, experienced foragers, and lifelong learners across Coeur d’Alene and the Inland Northwest who want to safely explore wild fungi and better understand the ecosystems they support. Our goal is simple: learn together, forage responsibly, and strengthen our connection to the natural world.
Who Should Join NIMA
NIMA is open to anyone curious about mushrooms — whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced forager. If you enjoy hiking, learning outdoors, and connecting with like-minded people, you’ll fit right in. We value curiosity, respect for nature, and a willingness to keep learning.

Why Join NIMA
NIMA combines hands-on field experience with practical, science-based education. Our walks and gatherings are designed to be approachable, informative, and rooted in responsible foraging practices. Safety, conservation, and respectful harvesting guide everything we do.
We welcome members from across the region — including Coeur d’Alene, Spokane, and the greater Inland Northwest. The forests and ecosystems of North Idaho shape what we teach, from seasonal species identification to conservation practices specific to this area.
