What We Do
We gather throughout North Idaho to study fungi, ecology, and the forest systems that sustain them. From field forays to lectures and seasonal events, our focus is education, curiosity, and community.

Learning, Community, and Conservation
Founded in 1968 during a fall mushroom class at North Idaho College, NIMA has spent over five decades exploring fungi in North Idaho. What began as a small group meeting in a courthouse basement has grown into a long-standing educational community.
We host field forays, lectures, cook-offs, and workshops focused on scientific identification, responsible harvesting, cultivation, and public education. Beginners and experienced members alike gather to study, share knowledge, and deepen their understanding of the forest.
